Filament Remaining Calculator
Weigh your spool and find out exactly how many grams, metres, and prints you have left.
The easiest way to know how much filament is left on a partial spool is to weigh it. Subtract the empty spool weight (the tare) and you have your filament grams. From there you can calculate metres remaining and how many more prints you can fit before running out. This calculator includes tare weights for the most popular spool brands so you don't need to look them up — just pick your brand, enter your current weight, and get the answer instantly.

FAQ
How do I find out how much filament is left on a spool?
Weigh the spool on a kitchen or postal scale, then subtract the empty spool weight (tare). For a generic 1kg spool the tare is typically 220–230g. So if your spool weighs 480g, you have approximately 480 − 227 = 253g of filament remaining.
How much does an empty filament spool weigh?
It varies by brand. Bambu AMS spools weigh ~250g empty, Prusa ~201g, generic 1kg spools ~220–230g, generic 2kg spools ~380g. This calculator has tare weights pre-loaded for all major brands.
How many prints can I get from the filament I have left?
Divide your remaining filament grams by the average weight of your prints. If you have 300g remaining and your prints average 50g, you can complete approximately 6 more prints. Enter your average print weight above to calculate this automatically.
What does tare weight mean for filament spools?
Tare weight is the weight of the empty spool without any filament. Subtracting the tare from your current spool weight gives you the filament grams remaining. Most scales have a tare button that zeros out the spool weight, but if yours doesn't this calculator handles the subtraction for you.
